Straight, skinny, cropped, or flared… There are so many different denim styles to choose from! No matter the style, the search for the perfect, flattering fit denim ends here!
What denim style is best for you?
Skinny jeans feature a tight, snug fit through the legs and end in a slim fit around the ankle. If you are looking for a jean that sculpts the shape of your figure, and provides a leg elongating look, skinny jeans are for you! This option can be found in both an extra stretchy material (like a jegging), as well as stiffer textures. This style is perfect for dressing up or down, and is great for all seasons. We love styling skinny jeans in the spring with a sandal or wedge, and a flowy, loose fit top. In the fall, skinny jeans pair perfectly with a knee high boot, and long hemline sweater.
Straight Leg Jeans
Straight leg jeans keep a consistent width in the legs the whole way down. They are not too snug (like a skinny) or too loose, but are a great middle ground option that maintains a streamlined look. This style is particularly stylish with a high rise waist fit, and looks great paired with both heels and sneakers. Bodysuits, cropped tops and looser shirts or sweaters front tucked in are all great options to style with straight leg jeans.
Cropped jeans hit just above the ankle, and are great for showing off your footwear! While cropped jeans are a perfect style for petite women, they look equally as great on taller frames as well. Cropped jean styles are usually a spring or summer closet staple, but more recently can be found in fall wardrobes as well, as they leave enough room for pairing with a higher ankle bootie. Cropped jeans can be styled multiple ways, however we love selecting tops to pair with this style that accentuate the waistline.
Flared jeans were ultra-popular in the 1960’s but can now be found available everywhere! Flared jeans are usually made with a snug fit at the top, designed with a wider shape starting at the knees down, forming a sort of “bell shape”. They never feel boring and are ideal for dressing up or down! Sneakers, boots or heeled sandals are all great shoe options to pair with your flared jeans. For a modern take on this classic style, opt for a cropped flare design! This style can be very flattering by balancing out larger hips. For tops, we love to balance the wider leg design with a more proportional top that is not too long or baggy.
Now that you have chosen the perfect denim silhouette, there are additional features and embellishments that you can choose from!
Create interest and add flare to your denim style with hem details! Spring is a season for the slit-hem jean. This on-trend feature is designed with an angled side seam slit hem and can be found on both skinny and straight leg denim styles. This style makes your legs look sky-high, and are great for showing off those fun spring heels! Fringe hem details are another great way to add interest to your jeans, and look best on skinny or cropped denim styles. Who remembers released hem jeans? That’s right… they’re back and better than ever! Released hems are created by removing the seam that holds together the hem of each pant leg. This creates a raw, almost tie dye effect that is classic and cool. Another great option that can be found on straight or cropped jean styles, the released hem is here to stay!
Distressed jeans encompass the style of torn, destroyed or ripped denim. This fashion statement can be found in heavy distressed options or light distressing. We love light distressed denim options that can take from your work week to weekend, and day to night! Distressed details add a casual, laidback style to your jeans, and are a fashion-forward accent that does not make you look like you are trying too hard.
Denim styles come in so many different washes and finishes from acid wash, to light and dark, to color options and patterns, the possibilities are endless! We love a neutral color palette for our jeans, as this makes styling them with many different tops and shoes that much easier. Black jeans are a closet staple for fall and look great all season long to dress up any look for a night out with friends or dates with your hubby. Keep your wardrobe fresh with white denim that can be worn all year long! The days of no white after Labor Day are gone, as these jeans pair perfectly in fall with plaids and textured sweaters. Blue color options are available in lighter blue styles that look great with light or dark tops, and darker indigo finishes that we prefer with light color blouses. Printed jeans or jegging styles can be worn from season to season and look best when styled with solid color tops and outerwear, as to not take away from the fun prints! We are loving printed skinny jean styles, in leopard prints and camo.
